I'm Back!

I realized today that it has been way too long since I last posted.  The year 2011 got really busy and hectic with church, ministry, and family.  My mother passed away early December 4TH and then came Christmas.  The year flew and I think I even lost a few days in there somewhere!

So what's next now that I am back?

2012 will begin with a series of posts relating to churches and the greatest need of our day.  I have spent some time this year researching and observing how we do what we do and whether or not it is effective in accomplishing the ministry.  My posts will touch on some things Baptist and some things generic.

Following that series, I plan to directly tie my future posts with what I will be preaching weekly.  The plan is to resume pod-casting sermons in 2012 and I feel impressed with the need to develop a more thorough application of the material delivered on Sundays.  There is a reason for this and the first post will explain in more detail the journey I am on.

I have realized more than ever that our greatest need is to impact lives on a daily basis.  Much of American Christianity is tied to the "show" on Sunday.  Here in Knoxville we are making it a point to drive the emphasis from Sunday into our homes and lives daily.  No "show" here - just good ol' fashioned ministry and people building.

I had a first hand encounter with someone recently that nailed all of this down for me.  The life that I had known years back had traveled a different road that me.  Yet ironically the two journeys began in the same church with the same dreams and goals.  The different paths of two lives has revealed to me much.  The glorious work of God in both is even more amazing!  This encounter taught me much!  It still is!

I hope you will stick around for 2012.  It is going to be an awesome year!

Until then - Happy New Year 2012!
